Job Description:

Downtown investment firm requires a Senior Accountant to join their team. The Senior Accountant reports to the Controller, providing accounting and administrative support. To be successful in this position, the candidate must have strong accounting and analytical skills, be highly insightful, respectful of deadlines, detail‐oriented, and a demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize workflow. The Senior Accountant works well in a team environment, is keen to learn, and thrives in an entrepreneurial environment where accounting is not routine.

Responsibilities:

  • Process source document transactions, including A/P and A/R and recurring entries, such as amortization and intercompany transactions, on a timely and accurate basis in QuickBooks
  • Reconciliation of bank statements, expense reports, and credit card statements
  • Assist in preparation of monthly financial reporting packages for senior management review
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly financial statements and reporting to shareholders
  • Preparation of quarterly project company financial statements for lenders and partners
  • GL and intercompany account reconciliation and financial statement analysis to ensure integrity of reporting
  • Comply with internal control processes to ensure completeness and accuracy of reporting
  • Assist with annual audits
  • Assist in preparation and monitoring of annual budgets and variances analysis
  • Prepare and file various government filings i.e. HST, QST
  • Filing of back‐up documentation

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Accounting or Finance
  • Enrollment in Accounting Designation preferred
  • 4‐5 years of related experience required
  • Strong full cycle General Accounting Experience
  • Proficiency with Accounting Software QuickBooks
  • Knowledge of FIRS and ASPE is an asset
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a high‐growth, fast‐paced environment
  • Strong teamwork, collaboration, flexibility and proactive
  • “Roll‐up the sleeves” approach in order to accomplish all necessary tasks
  • Commitment to excellence and impeccable ethical standards and integrity
