Job Description:

A well-established boutique real estate company is currently searching for an Senior Accountant for its real estate portfolio. The company looks for high performers who are adaptable to change. The position will be located in the Yorkville area of Toronto. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the financial reporting of a portfolio of real estate properties. The successful candidate will report to the Controller.


  • Prepare financial statements and reports for companies within the portfolio
  • Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end procedures
  • Prepare financial statements for tax filings – US and Canadian
  • Prepare reports for the annual audit
  • Overall responsible in maintaining integrity and accuracy of property records in SAGE
  • Filing of HST returns
  • Prepare monthly cash forecast for the portfolio and request funding from the fund if needed
  • Coordinate authorization of funding requests and construction draws
  • Prepare wire payments of properties
  • Open bank accounts for new foreclosed properties
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation of the properties
  • Help provide innovative solutions to accounting and operational matters
  • Backup the functions of other members of the finance team
  • Other duties and responsibilities assigned by management


  • At least 5 years of related accounting experience
  • University degree in accounting, CPA designation preferred
  • Real estate accounting experience is required – commercial real estate and development is preferred
  • Superior judgement and prioritization skills
  • The ability to see the big picture and dive down into details
  • The ability to work both individually and as a member of a team
  • The ability to continuously learn about commercial real estate and financial operations
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, and the ability to deal with all types of people
  • Strong system skills – Excel, Word, Outlook, accounting systems
