Job Description:

Our client, a law firm located downtown that specializes in condominium law requires a Law Clerk to join their team. This role requires someone with extensive condo development and closing experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up file in LDD (Lawyer Done Deal), review paper files and enter information and prepare summary spreadsheet
  • Obtain occupancy closing information from client
  • Prepare occupancy interim statements of adjustment, upload occupancy documents into LDD
  • Review occupancy packages and complete occupancy closings
  • Complete occupancy closing reports
  • Obtain final closing information from client
  • Prepare final closing statements of adjustments
  • Notify PR lawyers of final closing date
  • Review final closing packages, reports and complete final closings
  • Process closing proceeds and wire to banks and clients
  • Complete straggler closings, process proceeds, prepare reports
  • Processing Assignments of APS when received, updating LDD, notifying accounting
  • Completing straggler deals without any errors and process closing funds from simple straggler deals
  • Prepare discharges
  • Providing statements of adjustments to clients for review and approval
  • Uploading occupancy documents to LDD once statements are approved
  • Liaise with Senior Clerk to complete standard condominium project from start to finish
  • Review occupancy closings packages, address missing items with PR lawyers, release keys.
  • Track status of occupancy closings each day (in LDD); update status spreadsheet
  • Completing weekly accounting tasks, including billing clients for occupancy closings and sending interim reports to clients

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years law clerk experience within condo and/or commercial real estate
  • Condominium and subdivision project sales experience (with Lawyer Done Deal) from start to finish;
  • regular interaction with clients
  • Experience processing deposit reports and ECDI releases
  • Familiarity with commercial real estate transactions including purchase and sales is an asset
  • Familiarity with land development related matters including but not limited to land titles applications, severances and creation of easements is an asset but not a requirement
