Job Description:

Our client, a leader in transportation services is seeking several Field Services Technicians to ensure day-to-day service needs are met for fare collections systems all over the GTA. As a Field Service Technician you will manage all aspects of on-site installations, upgrades, remedial activities and preventative maintenance for fare collection devices and systems based on documented processes and procedures. This position requires a clear driving record, G license, background in electro-mechanical device maintenance and a willingness to work shift work (premium pay rates apply to evening and overnight shifts).


  • Installation of fare collection systems, including system hardware, electrical connections and sub-assemblies
  • Setting up equipment and components
  • Performing site inspections of installations
  • Providing commissioning support both pre-installation and post-installation
  • Supervising, participating in and reporting on tests performed in the field
  • Providing warranty and post-warranty support
  • Perform quality checks and full functionality tests on all systems
  • Supervising and/or performing all tests required by contract
  • Scheduling and/or performing preventative maintenance work
  • Providing documentation and logs of all preventative work
  • Repair, troubleshoot, modify and test fare collection equipment
  • Repairing subassemblies at a workbench
  • Scheduling maintenance work
  • Tracking defective parts, shipments and repairs
  • Performing upgrades on equipment
  • Providing extensive quality support during all phases of device testing
  • Provide coaching and support for customer personnel
  • Updating service delivery systems as required
  • Activity-based time reporting
  • Timely completion of installation and repair reports
  • Managing email communications


  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years relevant experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of electro-mechanical equipment
  • Has the ability to stand, kneel and bend for prolonged period of time
  • Proficient in handling small parts and tools
  • Full G license and clear driving record
  • Travel to customer sites on a daily basis
  • Flexibility to work day, evening and night shifts on a rotational basis (premium pay rate applies to evening and night shift
