Job Description:

Our client, a Brampton-based property management company requires a Director to lead their commercial properties division. In collaboration with the Senior Leadership team, the Director leads the Commercial Properties division in (Canada) and is responsible for all business administration including the asset management and commercial leasing of the retail, office, and industrial portfolio.  This is a leadership position with responsibility for all facets of staff management, overseeing a team of internal property managers, accountants and support staff.


  • Assist property managers and commercial controller in setting annual operational and capital budgets.
  • Prepare leasing strategy to maximize the income profile and value of each property.
  • Review and provide approval of capital projects. Monitor progress of projects to ensure timely completion and quality control.
  • Engage appropriate third-party providers for design-related capital projects; direct, review, and approve design projects.
  • Visit properties bi-weekly, at minimum.
  • Assist with acquisitions, dispositions, and financing transactions.
  • Coordinate due diligence activities with other departments/third parties.
  • Staff development and management: provide direction to in house property managers regarding day-to-day management and operation activities.
  • Leasing: negotiate lease proposals (financial and legal terms), agreements, amendments, and renewals.
  • Develop market knowledge to support leasing recommendation
  • Collaboration and Communication: Facilitate strong collaboration and business relationships with colleagues, tenants, and commercial real estate brokers.


  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Commercial Real Estate, Portfolio Management; or related field.
  • Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Business, Urban Development and/or a related field.
  • Demonstrates track record of delivering strong business results.
  • Successfully communicates and builds positive relationships at many levels across organization;
  • Exerts operational decision making through strong business and financial acumen.
