Job Description:

Our client, a rapidly growing real estate company with a mixed portfolio of residential and commercial properties/developments is actively seeking a Controller to join their team.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure monthly financial reports are delivered accurately and timely
  • Monitor and control cash flow in multiple accounts and intercompany transactions.
  • Continually monitor and review accounting process and procedures and recommend changes as appropriate to improve internal controls and / or efficiencies
  • Prepare year-end CAM & other recoveries
  • Preparing review reporting packages for lenders and investors as needed
  • Year-end working paper file preparation
  • Assisting President and senior management on as needed basis
  • Reconciling parking deposits daily to proper bank account and preparing monthly bank reconciliations
  • Manage and maintain proper accounting for several mortgage accounts
  • Prepare Pro Forma reports and other financial documents for new acquisitions
  • HST filings for properties
  • Generate monthly Residential forms (N1s N4s etc.) in conjunction with supporting accountant
  • Arrange semi-monthly payroll for office staff (including CPP, EI and monitoring Benefits enrollment)
  • Overseeing all the junior accounting roles being executed by Junior accountant (AR, AP, deposits)
  • Prepare offers of employment and ROE’s as needed
  • Hiring, training and on-boarding new staff on an as needed basis

Qualifications:

  • CPA designated
  • Experience with both commercial and residential real estate
  • Experience working with Yardi
  • Experience working with budgets and conducting in depth variance analyses
  • Strong analytical and excel skills
  • Comfortable taking direction and working independently
  • Background in development is an asset
