Job Description:

Our client, a financial services company located in North York requires a Communications Associate to join their team on a six month contract basis. Reporting to the Director, External Communications, this individual will play a key role in advancing the company’s global reputation. Responsibilities will include assisting in the ongoing development of external communications channels including marketing materials, social media content and presentations.



  • Maintain website content including biographies, employee photos and investment information.
  • Establish processes to ensure external content is current, accurate and regularly updated.
  • Oversee maintenance and acquisition of new materials for digital asset library.
  • Redevelop and maintain the external communications calendar.
  • Project management and external vendor support for major projects including annual reporting.
  • Screen inbound executive speaking opportunities for senior leaders by performing research to determine relevance and suitability.
  • Coordinate translation services with third-party vendors.
  • Provide support for major events including the Annual General Meeting.
  • Maintain briefing book content for senior executives.
  • Compile and send out daily media monitoring report.
  • Coordinate and send out weekly external communications report for senior executives.
  • In coordination with the online services team, analyze, evaluate and report on external communications metrics including social and traditional media coverage.
  • Report to and coordinate with external communications team on materials that respond to research and analytics findings.
  • Collaborate with fellow colleagues within external communications and the broader Communications & Media Relations team, and pitch-in with additional projects, as needed.



  • Undergraduate degree in communications, journalism or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of communications experience, with a focus on external communications.
  • Knowledge and experience in social media and website content.
  • Strong judgment, analytical and project management skills.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects efficiently.
  • Advanced knowledge of, and experience using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Competency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is an asset.
  • Familiarity with/past experience in the investment industry is an asset.
  • Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.
