Job Description:

Our client, a law firm located in North York requires an Accounting Manager to join their team. This role will report into the CFO and requires working experience with PCLaw.


  • Ensuring daily preparation of deposits and posting of cash receipts are completely timeously
  • Performing billing functions including posting of bills, transfers, wires, write offs, issuing of cheques
  • Client trust accounting transactions
  • Performing regular monthly follow up with all billing lawyers with respect to work in progress and accounts receivable collections
  • Preparing monthly trial balances, monthly and annual financial statements, reconciliation of the GL on a monthly basis and day-to-day responsibility for client trust accounts
  • Bi-weekly preparation of payroll
  • Liaise with the outside accountants regarding financial statement for the various entities


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA Designation or working towards complete thereof
  • 5+ years’ experience managing a full Accounting Team
  • Advanced understanding of financial statements
  • Experienced in AR & AP, Purchasing, transaction levies and Payroll
  • Knowledge of PCLaw
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of forecasting and analysis
  • Understanding of tax requirements for all Accounting functions, including HST, and tax installment payments for multiple firms/corporations including related management and investment companies
  • Effective leadership skills, with the ability to manage a cohesive team
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and manage time effectively
  • Strong focus on the development and recognition of direct reports
  • Strong organizational skills with high accuracy and close attention to detail
  • Effective relationship building skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sound decision maker with sound judgment
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Willing to adapt and learn quickly
  • Appetite to collaborate and work with others
