Accounts Payable Coordinator

Job Description:

Our client, an importing company located in Markham requires an Accounts Payable Coordinator to join their team.

Responsibilities:

  • Review, verify and enter invoices into system and monitoring discount opportunities
  • Flag and clarify any unusual or questionable invoice items or prices
  • Prepare and process monthly electronic transfers
  • Pays employees by receiving and verifying expense reports and requests for advances
  • Prepare and perform monthly check runs
  • Monitor and record custom charges to the related files
  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions
  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
  • Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
  • Assist with month end closing by performing bank reconciliation and other related tasks
  • Provide supporting documentation for annual audits
  • Filing and maintaining historical invoices in an organized manner
  • Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of accounts payable and general accounting procedures/bookkeeping
  • Experience with working with an accounting software
  • Proficient in data entry and management
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience including interaction with a large vendor base
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills required to effectively communicate with teammates
  • Strong communication, problem solving and analytical skills required
  • Ability to work independently and within a team when required
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Access
  • Must have attention to detail with an eye for accuracy
  • Creative, self-disciplined and capable of identifying and completing critical tasks independently and with a sense of urgency
