Job Description:

Our client, a high profile PR agency in Toronto is looking for an Account Manager to join their team. This is a first-level management position with supervisory responsibilities to develop and implement strategic PR programs and creative communications that builds clients’ brands. It is primarily responsible for account management, client liaison, employee engagement and the overall success of PR programs for assigned accounts.


Account Support and Client Service

  • Acts as back-up to Account Manager
  • Assists Manager to lead day-to-day account activities with Coordinator and Consultant and clients
  • Helps senior team members strategize on multiple accounts
  • Leads the day-to-day communication and project management on smaller accounts
  • Independent projects
  • Attends and participates in client calls and meetings
  • Helps prepare briefs and agendas for brainstorms and team meeting
  • Prepares and contributes to the development and presentation of client strategies and new business pitches
  • Accountable for the quality of work delivered from junior team members and proactively provides suggestions to amplify the success of programs
  • Provides timely feedback and progress updates to Manager and, sometimes to client

New Business Support

  • Involved in new business development and initiatives; develops first draft of strategies
  • Understands and is engaged in client challenges/goals and proactively identifies areas for growth
  • Supports management at industry networking events
  • Develops and attends presentations and results reports with Manager
  • Research into new clients and competitive landscape



  • Demonstrates understanding of the evolving media landscape (traditional and social)
  • Capable of client liaison and project management
  • Manages projects with guidance from senior leader
  • Develops influencer marketing strategies and identifies influencer trends and best practices
  • Ability to complete more complex writing tasks with direction from Manager
  • On-site event lead: set up and teardown
  • Strategic solutions and recommendations to advance biz and company process
  • Leads the execution and supervision of media tours and events
  • Supervises projects, junior teammates, budget tracker
  • Demonstrates effective client communication and follow through
  • Demonstrates solid PR judgment and abilities
  • Spokesperson management

Issues/Crisis Support

  • Provides back-up support for Manager with direction from senior leadership
  • Prepares and sends monitoring updates to client
  • Supports and contributes to crisis strategy and management
  • Drafts statements, key messages and responses
  • Managing monitoring of websites and social listening
  • Wire management

Relationship Management

  • Builds and nurtures strong client relationships by understanding client needs/goals
  • Provides client counsel with support from Manager
  • Maintains strong media, blogger and influencer relationships
  • Develops relationships with all levels of the company
  • Effectively manages internal and external relationships
  • Provides coaching and guidance to support the development of others
  • Provides feedback to junior team members and supervision of junior team members

Time Management and Budget Research

  • Assists in development and ongoing management of budgets
  • Assists in the management of the team’s time to support Account Manager
  • Overall accountability for expense tracker development and management
  • Submits accurate dockets on a daily basis



  • PR Generalist: Experience with media/blogger/influencer relations, events, social, experiential and digital experience
  • University degree
  • Education or training relevant to PR industry
  • 4-6 years of industry communications or agency experience
  • Experience with developing social media and digital & content strategies
  • Experience in booking social media advertising
  • Strong client focus and relationship building skills with internal/external stakeholders, vendors and agency partners
  • Solid interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Developing leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior team members
  • Strong writing skills with accurate spelling and grammar
  • Strong research skills
  • Always acts with professionalism
  • Thrives in a collaborative, creative, entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to problem solve and handle ambiguity
  • Strong presentation skills
