Job Description:

Our client, a high profile PR agency in Toronto is looking for an Account Manager to join their team. This is a first-level management position with supervisory responsibilities to develop and implement strategic PR programs and creative communications that builds clients’ brands. It is primarily responsible for account management, client liaison, employee engagement and the overall success of PR programs for assigned accounts.


Account Management

  • Manages and leads day-to day account activities with the team and clients (i.e. manages client programs including research and insights, campaign execution, paid digital and social advertising, analytics and reporting)
  • Effectively manages program timelines, team and client expectations
  • Provides timely feedback and progress updates to Senior Leaders and clients regarding client programs / accounts
  • Active participation in company-wide projects
  • Retains and grows account base
  • Work with Senior Leaders to develop proposals and pitch new business

PR Work

  • Provides strategic PR counsel to clients by understanding the evolving media landscape (traditional and social) and what creates a great story, what resonates with media/ bloggers/ influencers and how to craft these stories
  • Develops award-winning, insightful and creative ideas to drive results
  • Writes strategic communications materials for approval
  • Identify, monitor and develop solutions on issues/crisis management with direction and support from Senior Leaders
  • Writes and contributes to account-winning strategies for new and existing clients

Relationship management

  • Builds and nurtures strong client relationships by understanding client needs/goals
  • Provide client counsel and leadership
  • Builds strong media, blogger and influencer relationships
  • Effectively manage internal and external relationships (i.e. with vendors, agency partners, bloggers and influencers)

People Management

  • Manages and leads account team
  • Provide training/orientation to staff in alignment to SO approaches
  • Accountable for team performance and development (i.e. establish performance expectations in relation to project goals, provide regular employee feedback, address low performing employees)

Budget Management

  • Negotiates, prepares and manages account budgets
  • Responsible for budgets and is proactive to ensure account profitability
  • Oversees day-to-day and project expense budgets in collaboration with Senior Leaders


  • PR Generalist: Media/ blogger/ influencer relations, events, social, experiential and digital experience
  • Minimum 4 years of industry communications experience, preferably with agency
  • Proven experience with social media platforms
  • Strong, relevant, writing experience
  • University degree is highly preferred
  • Relevant education in PR preferred
  • Strong client focus and relationship building skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to build and manage budgets
