Job Description:

Our client, a boutique investment advisory firm requires a Client Service Associate to join their team. Ideally the successful candidate with at least five years of experience gained as part of an investment advisory team and capable of being registered as a dealing representative. Accreditation as a CFP or a CFP candidate and familiarity with Canadian tax planning and portfolio construction for HNW individuals and families is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify client needs and offer appropriate solutions
  • Help clients implement their plans and carry out transactions
  • Perform tasks relating to various compliance obligations with respect to client service (AML screening, tax reporting, KYC annual updates, etc.)
  • Analyze clients’ financial statuses (e.g. income, expenses and liabilities) and support the firm’s portfolio manager develop asset allocation models for clients
  • Performing various tasks relating to the servicing of new and existing clients
  • Manage client documentation and files to ensure documents are up to date and that there are no document deficiencies
  • Maintain our digital client files and client related capital activity (scanning and data entry) within the technology infrastructure
  • Build strong relationships to retain existing clients
  • Maintain updated knowledge of regulations, practices and financial products
  • Prospect research and lead generation
  • Maintain external fund listing database by updating monthly numbers on various websites
  • Participate in special projects and assignments
  • Demonstrate a strong code of ethics while adhering to and protecting client privacy

Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree from a reputable University
  • Preferably 5+ years of professional work experience in a related role
  • Capable to be registered as an OSC dealing representative and CFP accreditation or CFP candidate is a plus
  • Strong ethics, with a customer-oriented attitude
  • Professional demeanour
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to foster long-term relationships
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Proficiency with MSOffice (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency with Salesforce or committed to fast track training
  • Superior interpersonal skills with both clients and colleagues
  • Great organizational skills and a dependable nature
  • The ability to handle confidential information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including excellent telephone demeanor
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, work within time constraints and follow-up
  • Aptitude with numbers and exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with the Canadian regulatory environment in connection with investment accounts (accredited investor, permitted clients, various account types – individual, joint, corporate, registered accounts, IPP, ITFs)
