Job Description:

Our client, a high-end clothier requires a Payroll Supervisor to join their head office. This role will oversee the payroll services function for both the head office and stores for over 1000 employees and provide leadership to the payroll team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Performing payroll maintenance functions and processing bi-weekly payroll
  • Supervising the processing of weekly store payroll and all related activities
  • Producing and reconciling summary reports and overseeing payroll reconciliations
  • Performing all year end reconciliation procedures and annual returns
  • Preparing regular weekly and ad-hoc custom reports
  • Preparing individual compensation packages, bonus payment cheques and seasonal budgets
  • Providing leadership, direction and guidance to team members.
  • Working closely with Human Resources to support policy changes and supporting special projects
  • Identifying areas that will benefit from process improvements and working closely with internal partners to implement streamlined and efficient solutions.
  • Optimizing the Workday system in support of all Payroll processes and the smooth operations of the department
  • Responding to employee payroll inquiries and adhering to the department and customer service level expectations

Qualifications:

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Financial Accounting/Accounting/Business Administration or a related discipline
  • Experience with Workday payroll system
  • Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory position processing and overseeing the payment of salaries, wages, complex commissions, bonuses, and taxes, while ensuring compliance with payroll regulations across several Canadian provinces
  • Payroll designation is an asset
  • Experience managing direct reports with proven ability to provide leadership and influence others
  • Exceptionally high detail orientation and analytical skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to work with and meet deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities under time constraints
  • Strong problem-solving skills and results oriented
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Very strong client service orientation
  • Excellent relationship building skills
